ERASMUS PRIZE IN THE HUMANITIES
COMPETITION OPEN TO ALL JUNIORS AND SENIORS

The Erasmus Prize in the Humanities was established in 2001 by John Molner ’85 and David Molner ’91 in honor of Kenneth Lloyd-Jones, John J. McCook Professor of Modern Languages. Professor Lloyd-Jones was a member of the faculty from 1978-2007. It is awarded annually to the junior or senior judged to have written the best essay in the humanities after completion of their sophomore year.

Students may submit only one essay, in English, no longer than 20 pages. The essay can be resubmitted, adapted, or translated from coursework, or written specially for the competition.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:
  • Send your work as a PDF attachment via email to [email protected]
  • Don’t forget to title your work!
  • To ensure anonymity, do NOT put your name on your actual work.
  • In the body of your email please put your full name, graduation year and title of your work.
  • Submission deadline is Friday April 4th, 2025 by Noon.
  • Work submitted after the April 4th deadline will not be considered.
